ABSOLVENȚII LAUDER-REUT REVIN MEREU ACASĂ! VIZITA LUI VIRGIL TĂTARU, ABSOLVENT LAUDER-REUT 2015 ȘI STUDENT LA NEW YORK UNIVERSITY

În 16 ianuarie 2018, elevii și profesorii Complexului Lauder-Reut au avut bucuria de a primi vizita unui absolvent Lauder-Reut din generația 2015, Virgil Tătaru. Virgil s-a întâlnit cu elevii care învață în cadrul Complexului Lauder-Reut și le-a povestit din experiența sa de student la New York University, actualmente în New York, în anul 3, după ce primii doi ani i-a petrecut în campusul din Shanghai al acestei prestigioase instituții. Totodată, Virgil a făcut un tur al noii clădiri Lauder-Reut, descoperind-o cu încântare și curiozitate.

Iată impresii ale elevilor care l-au cunoscut cu aceasta ocazie, împreună cu fotografii de la întâlnire care au fost publicate și în Jurnalul săptămânii din Israel, precum și filmul evenimentelor.

Interviu cu un alumnus

Liceul nostru se bucură de o excelentă relație cu alumnii săi. De când sunt elev la Lauder am văzut în fiecare an cum absolvenții noștri se întorc cu drag să-și revadă vechii profesori, colegi și prieteni și să-i încurajeze, atât personal, cât și didactic pe actualii elevi ai complexului, de obicei la festivitatea de deschidere a anului școlar. Dar, de data aceasta, eu și alți doi colegi de ai mei, Antonia Grosu, din clasa a X-a real și Tudor Coman, din clasa a IX-a real am avut șansa de a ne întâlni chiar la mijlocul anului școlar cu Virgil Tătaru, absolvent al promoției 2015 și actual student în anul III la New York University, una dintre cele mai bine cotate universități de pe Coasta de Est a Statelor Unite.

Totuși, nu am avut parte de o simplă întâlnire cu Virgil, ci am putut chiar să-i luăm un interviu acestuia. Având în vedere că acesta este primul interviu pe care l-am realizat vreodată sunt extrem de bucuros de faptul că fostul nostru coleg a avut amabilitatea de a ne răspunde la fiecare întrebare și de a ne lămuri curiozitățile. Cele mai multe curiozități sunt întrebări pe care cred că și Virgil și le punea când era la liceu. Prima parte a interviului a constat într-o discuție legată de alegerea unei viitoare facultăți și de orientarea către o anumit mediu universitar, indiferent dacă acesta se numește S.U.A., Marea Britanie, Elveția, România, Germania sau China.

Menționez cu această ocazie China tocmai pentru că Virgil a efectuat primii doi ani de studiu la campusul din Shanghai al New York University. El ne-a povestit despre experiența sa ca licean și ca actual student internațional, despre calitățile pe care universitățile americane le caută la un tânăr absolvent de studii medii, despre domeniile pe care le studiază, actualmente, la campusul din Manhattan (cu predilecție matematica și informatica, dar și filosofia, marketingul, inteligența artificială sau limba chineză), despre procesul său de admitere la N.Y.U. și despre planurile sale de viitor. Anumite răspunsuri, precum necesitatea obținerii unor certificate de limbă engleză (TOEFL) și de „bacalaureat” american (SAT) pentru admiterea la o universitate din S.U.A., nu m-au surprins deloc, dar altele, precum procesul destul de lung de obținere a cetățeniei americane pentru un student și viitor profesionist venit dintr-o altă țară, m-au pus puțin pe gânduri.

A doua parte a interviului nostru a constat într-o serie de întrebări vizând experiența lui Virgil în China. Având în vedere că majoritatea studenților români din străinătate învață în locuri precum S.U.A., Marea Britanie, Franța, Olanda sau Danemarca, povestea unui conațional cu studii efectuate în China, chiar dacă în cadrul unei universități americane, nu are cum să nu te fascineze. În ciuda unor mici dificultăți legate de aprofundarea mandarinei, în contextul în care cei mai mulți colegi de-ai săi în acești doi ani erau chinezi, faptul că Virgil a reușit să se adapteze într-un mediu cultural atât de diferit arată calitatea educației oferite de liceul nostru. La final, alumnusul nostru a putut să ne arate cunoștințele sale solide de mandarină, spunându-ne: „我的名字是维吉尔Tataru和我在劳德 - 鲁特高中学习。.” / „Wǒ de míngzì shì wéi jí'ěr Tataru hé wǒ zài láo dé - lǔ tè gāozhōng xuéxí.”, adică „Numele meu este Virgil Tătaru și am învățat la Liceul Lauder-Reut.”.

Probabil că nici în China, Virgil nu s-a sfiit să spună unde a petrecut o perioadă atât de importantă din viața sa. Acest exemplu îmi arată că, indiferent unde s-ar afla, alumnii noștri se mândresc de faptul că au învățat la Lauder.

Întâlnirea cu Virgil Tătaru, absolvent al Liceului Lauder, în prezent student la New York University, a fost o experiență inedită. Cu această ocazie am aflat amănunte despre admiterea la facultățile din SUA, un subiect foarte interesant pentru mine, fiind una din opțiunile mele pentru viitor.

Am avut un dialog interesant, abordând subiecte legate de admitere, despre testele solicitate dar și despre alte cerințe ale acestor universități. Am aflat detalii esențiale despre pregătirea necesară și am realizat o comparație, din punct de vedere structură și dificultate, cu Examenul de Bacalaureat din România.

De asemenea, am reținut că NYU este o instituție renumită ce are campusuri și în afara Statelor Unite, oferind studenților oportunitatea de a studia pe o perioadă determinată și în alte câteva țări, tinerii astfel reușind să descopere culturi și tradiții diferite.

Nu în ultimul rând, aș vrea să felicit inițiativa Complexului Educațional Lauder-Reut, prin care am avut ocazia să aflăm despre experiența lui Virgil și subliniez că îmi doresc să particip în continuare la astfel de activități, deoarece consider că acestea mă ajută să iau o decizie referitor la studiile superioare.
